A new online seminar with a specific focus on EU policy in relation to landscape will start n 3’rd April, 2019, organized by HfWU Nürtingen-Geislingen, School for Landscape Architecture, Environment and Urban Planning, lead by Dr.-Ing. Ellen Fetzer.

The students of SZIU, Faculty of landscape Architecture and Urbanism can apply until the seminar starts.
The overall goal of this seminar is to discuss the many dimensions through which EU policy is influencing landscapes. We want to raise awareness for potentials and opportunities (such as funding instruments) but also discuss obvious conflicts (for example in the field of agriculture).
This module has received some funding from the EU’s Jean-Monnet-Programme. Jean Monnet Activities are designed to promote teaching and research in the field of European Union studies worldwide. Landscape-related topics are extremely rare in this programme, which is why we are really happy that we could position landscape for the first time in this EU-activity. The programme is formally hosted in Nürtingen because of the grant requirements. This is an European classroom, addressed to all European landscape students. Staff is also welcome .
Participants are invited to follow the online lectures. They can do this either synchronously by attending online on Wednesdays between 11 30 and 13 00 CET or by watching the seminar recording. If they want to do the seminar for credits, they need to reflect the seminar topics against a landscape of their personal choice. In international teams, they will compare the impact of EU policies on our landscapes. Further will be discussed opportunities for enhancing these landscapes by means of EU instruments. The student teams would present their findings online and write a report. 3 ECTS per semester course will be allocated.
