A tárgy áttekintést ad a természet és az ember viszonyának történetéről, az emberi tevékenység globálissá válásáról, ennek következményeiről, a globális problémák létrejöttének okairól, a különböző tudományok funkciójáról e folyamatok vizsgálatában, a megoldási lehetőségekről, a fenntartható társadalom jellemzőiről. A tantárgy célja a környezetvédelem általános, globális kérdéseinek ismertetése, inter-, illetve multidiszciplináris jellegének bemutatása, valamint a annak szemléltetése, hogyan kapcsolódik össze a környezetvédelemben a tudomány és a gyakorlati tevékenység.
The subject provides an overview of history of the relationship between nature and humankind, how the human activities are going global and about the consequences. We are going to answer questions related to the reasons for global problems, functions of different disciplines in researches of these processes, the possible solutions, and the characteristics of the sustainable society. The course is about the global issues of the environment, introduction into its inter-or multidisciplinary nature, and presentation how science and practice relates in environmental protection.
